More Web Resources !!!!

I will like to share with you the latest newsletter from Zero To Three. First I will like to share the link to the article Maximizing Partnerships With Parents and Pediatricians: The Role of Early Childhood Specialists, by Prachi E. Shah  . I think is a great article that describes how the early childhood provider, because of the consistent contact over time with infants, toddlers, and their families, is well positioned to: (a) observe the nuances of the early caregiving relationship; (b) monitor early child behavior and development; (c) identify deviances; and (d) offer support, guidance, and intervention when families struggle. This partnership with families is further enhanced when the observations about child behavior, development, and psychosocial functioning are communicated to the pediatric provider. The opportunity for this enhanced “developmental surveillance,” incorporating additional observations of child behavior and development in multiple settings, provides valuable information to the pediatrician and adds to the comprehensiveness of the pediatric care provided. Here's the link to the article: http://main.zerotothree.org/site/DocServer/MaximizingPartnershipsParentsPediatricians.pdf?docID=13061

Last but not least I was really excited to listen to a podcast about how the feeding relationship between parent and child nurtures a child’s physical and emotional development, and he suggests ways to get babies and toddlers off to a healthy start. I tried before and it works just click and you will be able to listed to the podcast. Enjoy :) http://main.zerotothree.org/site/R?i=Z7I4vFxsYwJRzWiiUQOhaA

  1. Thanks for the great info, Deborah. Interesting to read about the importance of open lines of communication amongst the parents, the early childhood provider and the paediatricians. These are three important and constant links in the early life of a child and when they all communicate and discuss their findings, it can only enure to the benefit of the child.

  2. Thank you for your post. I have worked closely with the pediatricians of some of my students. I have completed developmental assessments, documented feeding and potty behaviors, and completed other reports that were used by their doctors for evaluative purposes. This is a partnership that is important to the development of my students.
