Final Blog Assignment

Three consequences of learning about the international early childhood field for my  professional and personal development are :
ü  I'm aware of the necessities of not only children but as well as their families. I learn to be more empathic to my  surroundings and also grateful of all the things that I have in my personal life and on my school to teach my children.
ü  It makes me realize of different strategies that I can implement in my community.
ü  It make me aware of the importance of community work and go being an advocate for all children and their families.
My  goal for the field related to international awareness of issues and trends and the spirit of collegial relations:
ü  Is to continue embracing diversity and continue sharing resources  by using my blog and my exploring all the resources that were provided to me during  this course.

Getting to Know Your International Contacts—Part 3

Since  I haven't heard back from my contact :( I decided to do the alternative option of the blog assignment. By visiting the Unesco website I went to the education tab and I was thrilled by reading about  "Education for All ", a global movement committed to provide education for children, youth and adults. The movement  consist of 6 international goals that they want to be met by 2015, 15 years since its origin on 2000.
The six goals are :
Goal 1
Expanding and improving comprehensive early childhood care and education, especially for the most vulnerable and disadvantaged children
Goal 2Ensuring that by 2015 all children, particularly girls, children in difficult circumstances and those belonging to ethnic minorities, have access to, and complete, free and compulsory primary education of good quality.
Goal 3
Ensuring that the learning needs of all young people and adults are met through equitable access to appropriate learning and life-skills programmes
Goal 4
Achieving a 50 per cent improvement in levels of adult literacy by 2015, especially for women, and equitable access to basic and continuing education for all adults.
Goal 5
Eliminating gender disparities in primary and secondary education by 2005, and achieving gender equality in education by 2015, with a focus on ensuring girls’ full and equal access to and achievement in basic education of good quality.
Goal 6
Improving all aspects of the quality of education and ensuring excellence of all so that recognized and measurable learning outcomes are achieved by all, especially in literacy, numeracy and essential life skills.
The six goals  of the Education for All are aligned with my professional goals because they are targeted to provide quality education for children youth h and adults. For this they need to count with qualify and committed individuals. I love this project because besides providing education for children it will gives adults  the opportunity to competed their education , therefore they will be ableot get a job and provide to their families , diminishing the levels of poverty around the world.

More Web Resources !!!!

I will like to share with you the latest newsletter from Zero To Three. First I will like to share the link to the article Maximizing Partnerships With Parents and Pediatricians: The Role of Early Childhood Specialists, by Prachi E. Shah  . I think is a great article that describes how the early childhood provider, because of the consistent contact over time with infants, toddlers, and their families, is well positioned to: (a) observe the nuances of the early caregiving relationship; (b) monitor early child behavior and development; (c) identify deviances; and (d) offer support, guidance, and intervention when families struggle. This partnership with families is further enhanced when the observations about child behavior, development, and psychosocial functioning are communicated to the pediatric provider. The opportunity for this enhanced “developmental surveillance,” incorporating additional observations of child behavior and development in multiple settings, provides valuable information to the pediatrician and adds to the comprehensiveness of the pediatric care provided. Here's the link to the article: http://main.zerotothree.org/site/DocServer/MaximizingPartnershipsParentsPediatricians.pdf?docID=13061

Last but not least I was really excited to listen to a podcast about how the feeding relationship between parent and child nurtures a child’s physical and emotional development, and he suggests ways to get babies and toddlers off to a healthy start. I tried before and it works just click and you will be able to listed to the podcast. Enjoy :) http://main.zerotothree.org/site/R?i=Z7I4vFxsYwJRzWiiUQOhaA

Getting to Know Your International Contacts—Part 2

I found the alternative reading for this week blog assignment very interesting. From the  Early Childhood Development initiative   I loved the idea of  trained  a group of professionals  to share with them the latest research's in order to work together to continue developing strategies  for the early childhood community.
I also like the idea of child mental health intervention , this intervention basically consist of  a group of professionals  that will be working with an specific group of children in different parts of the world. The fact that the research is international give early childhood professionals an idea of the  common issues and trends in the field around the world.
Last but not least is the initiative to foster a collaboration  to manage and deal with natural and man made crises such as  earthquakes and malnutrition.
